Sufism

Sufism is a form of Islam rooted in mysticism and connection with the divine that I have studied and practiced for over two decades.

Emphasized by inner experience, this religious practice has influenced countless cultures and spiritual traditions in its centuries-long history. Many of these influences can be found in various forms of yoga.

Sufism teaches practices that increase spiritual awareness, such as meditation and prayer.

Which help to cultivate a deeper connection with God and increase one’s sense of inner peace and well-being. This, in turn, can also help to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.

If you believe that some of these core tenets sound similar to the anxiety reducing effects of Pranayama and Meditation or the stress relief of Restorative Yoga, you would be correct.

I believe that my personal study and practice of Sufism enhances my ability to teach classes covering these very topics!

Also key is the importance of community and social connection, which allows people to gain a sense of belonging and social support.

These are core principles that I aim to integrate into my yoga teachings. I feel that a welcoming environment where people feel like they belong, is critical to having a wonderful yoga experience.

In conclusion, Sufism offers a range of benefits for individuals seeking to deepen their spiritual connection, improve their mental and emotional well-being, and connect with others.

Sufism is a spiritual tradition that can be practiced by people of any faith or background.

I’d love to hear from you!
